While it's safe to say that PUBG's best days are behind it, it's still one of the most popular battle royale games out there, not to mention that it started the whole BR craze. Getting the game off the ground though apparently wasn't an easy affair, despite how it may look.
Speaking in a video titled PUBG - Early Days Retrospective, the game's character art director Taehyun Kim said, "I think what is very important is to create the game, only after thinking through how gamers will take in these features. [PUBG] was almost a reckless attempt, but we took a risk with the vision we had in mind, with strong will to succeed and we happened to succeed."
Of course, to say that PUBG "succeeded" at the time doesn't really tell the whole picture and the word exploded probably would've been more appropriate. Brendan Greene's game was on everyone's lips and it's at that moment that the battle royale seeds were truly sown.
Kim mentioned that being able to make something that players love is a unique experience, and said that PUBG Corp are dedicated to keeping the essence of PUBG intact, while still expanding it with fresh and exciting content.
Greene appears in the video as well, albeit not for very long, which is understandable considering his sights are set elsewhere. In case you didn't catch his latest announcement, a scene that was plain gorgeous and rendered live, his game , so you can scratch those off right away. It does look enticing though, we give him that.
