January 2026 is set to be a promising start to the year for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a number of exciting titles making the transition in thanks to the console’s robust third-party support.
Building off a strong 2025, the system is beginning the year on a high note with a balanced lineup of enhanced ports and flagship third-party releases, such as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Dynasty Warriors: Origins and more.
For those who own a Switch 2 already or will be purchasing one in the near future, January promises to be an excellent time of year, with five games in particular launching throughout the month.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (January 15)
January launches with a Switch 2 edition of Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons. One of the most successful games of its predecessor’s life cycle, the Switch 2 port of the island-building simulation game brings with it technical upgrades that enhance the performance and visuals of the Switch’s original iteration.
Mio: Memories in Orbit (January 20)
Metroidvanias continue to find success on Nintendo consoles, and Mio: Memories in Orbit is looking to be no exception. Having gorgeous visuals and exploration-based gameplay, this is a game that is sure to become a hit with fans of narrative-action platformers.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins (January 22)
Expanded battlefields, denser enemy populations, and newly modernised mechanics are at the heart of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors: Origins. This third-person strategy game is a shining example of what Switch 2 can do with bigger-budget, more intensive action titles.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (January 22)
The biggest third-party game of the month, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade finally makes its debut on Nintendo hardware this January. The Switch 2 version of the title offers up visual upgrades and additional story content.
Dispatch (January 28)
Wrapping up the month is Adhoc Studio’s critically acclaimed episodic adventure game Dispatch. Launching simultaneously on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, this is a game that is sure to appeal to fans of narrative-based gameplay.
