Nintendo has announced Mario Tennis Fever, the latest title in the Mario sports series. The game is launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026, alongside a new gameplay overview trailer. In it, Nintendo outlines how the new title will be the biggest roster, craziest gameplay, and wildest modes in the Mario Tennis series to date.
Mario Tennis Fever introduces the largest roster in the series, featuring 38 playable characters, and including new entries like Goomba, Nabbit, Piranha Plant, Baby Wario, and Baby Waluigi. Returning are the series’ familiar tennis mechanics, but also upgraded for even crazier new gameplay.
The most expansive new addition is the inclusion of the new 30-feet Fever Rackets, which grant players game-disrupting abilities like freezing the court, shrinking opponents, cloning them, and more.
These abilities are charged through Fever Shots, which are mapped to a new Fever Gauge. In addition, Nintendo is including gameplay mechanics where players can react to enemies to deflect and return their shots.
As for the game’s modes, they’ve been expanded further too. It includes Trial Towers for structured progression-based challenges, Mix It Up Mode for matches governed by bizarre rules, and Wonder Court Matches where players can encounter wild environmental effects inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Online multiplayer also includes Ranked Matches, create-your-own Online Rooms, and motion-based Swing Mode for Swing Joy-Con 2. The game also includes an Adventure Mode once again, featuring a new story about characters regressing to their baby forms and having to relearn how to use their various moves.
Nintendo also confirmed GameShare support for up to three nearby players who can join without owning the game. In celebration of the game’s launch, Nintendo is also launching new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 controllers the same day.
