BattleBit Remaster, a brand-new shooter being developed by a team of four people, has more Steam users actively playing it right now than Battlefield 2042 does.

BattleBit Remastered, a shooter that isn't truly being remastered; it's only being dubbed that, has become a new hit on Steam. In this very moment, when this article is being written, this popular multiplayer shooter peaked at 32,383 active players on Steam, which surpasses popular shooters such as Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Although it is a game with a low-poly graphic style, or in other words, its graphics are reminiscent of games played 20 years ago, it appears that this does not hinder its popularity at all; on the contrary, more and more players are joining this game every day.

Large matches with 254 people per server are what distinguish BattleBit Remastered. The game features 19 maps with alternating day and night, environmental degradation, vehicles, etc. So far, everything is running without a hitch. The game is not taxing, so you don't need a strong PC to handle the insane amount of movement on the screen. This is precisely where the low-poly presentation style helps. Even on ten-year-old hardware, BattleBit Remastered plays nicely.

What is particularly fascinating is that a team of only four people worked on this game, and that same team works on its maintenance. BattleBit Remastered also didn't have any advertising prior to its launch, and it was in the test phase for a short period of time.

It is still unclear whether the game will continue to draw a sizable number of active players or if its popularity will wane over the next several days. In any case, we're pleased to see that in the sea of AAA games that have everything but what draws players in the most, which is pure fun, occasionally even games that aren't particularly realistic and didn't invest billions in their development may still flourish.
