Hogwarts Legacy opening week digital sales in Europe are 56 per cent higher than those of Elden Ring, according to the latest data.
The Hogwarts Legacy hype train is hitting supersonic speeds and there's not a single hint it's slowing anytime soon. Warner Bros. Games' Harry Potter RPG is currently on track to take the crown of the best-selling game of 2023 by a mile, and we doubt Starfield or Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have enough juice to compete against this mammoth release.
According to the latest sales reports, Hogwarts Legacy's digital opening week sales in Europe are 56 per cent higher than Elden Ring sales. This also means Hogwarts Legacy's launch is bigger than Cyberpunk 2077's .
Overall, Hogwarts Legacy is the biggest game launch outside of FIFA and Call of Duty since Red Dead Redemption 2 , which launched almost five years ago in 2018. This is an incredible result for the game, no doubt about it, and that's without last-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch version, which are set to launch in a couple of months.

To some, these results may come as a surprise but when you take the positive review scores into consideration and also the fact that Harry Potter books are the best-selling books ever and the universe itself is so beloved by millions of fans worldwide, then the sales performance is right where it should be.

With such strong sales, we presume it's only a matter of time before we start hearing about the potential paid DLC and eventually a full-blown sequel. Simply put, a massive new franchise is born so expect a lot more from Hogwarts Legacy in the coming years.
