IO Interactive announced the celebration of 20th anniversary of Hitman's existence along with some interesting information about its lifetime.
November of 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the Hitman franchise as the first game was released on November 21, 2000. Looking back, it is hard to process that it has been two decades since we escaped that asylum for the first time, infiltrated the Chinese restaurant or went into the jungle to face a drug lord.
Time flies and IO released a total of seven major Hitman games in the past two decades which saw 47 travelling across six continents to handle over 100 missions. According to the devs, more than 70 million players stepped into 47's shoes across all of those games.
They also mentioned the two movie adaptations, two novels, a comic book series and two mobile games. Out of those, it is usually the movies the fans hope to forget but the one with Timothy Olyphant definitely had some redeeming qualities.
IO noted that the 20th-anniversary festivities will include some moments of celebration that will "enable [them] to reflect on what [they] achieved over the years" as well as a look ahead to see where 47's world is going.
That future will include Hitman 3, the eighth game in the series which will be released on January 20, 2021, and signal boosting community creations which will be shared on social media .
