IO Interactive have unveiled Hitman 3's cinematic intro, and it features a reunion between Agent 47 and long-lost friend Lucas Grey, as they take on the franchise's grand finale.
"Agent 47 is reunited with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey as they begin their hunt for the partners of Providence. Witness the opening cinematic to the game and prepare for the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy", the description reads.
IO Interactive promised a darker story this time around, a conclusion worthy of the Hitman franchise. They called it a proper love letter to fans , and the cinematic suggests they're not lying.
Agent 47 and Lucas Grey are taking on Providence, having learned the names of its three partners from Providence's chief controller, the Constant. Needless to say, it won't be a walk in the park, but this is where Hitman 3 players come in.
Hitman 3 is likely to feel particularly sweet on PlayStation 5, as IO Interactive went all out to make every weapon feel special, in addition to adaptive trigger gimmicks.
"When you gently squeeze the R2 button, your finger will reach a tension point that will resist your pressure, and you’ll need to hold your finger against that tension point to activate the focus. When you’re ready to fire, push past that tension point and you’ll feel the “click” of the trigger as you fire the weapon. Boom. Headshot", they said.
Players who finished Hitman 1 and 2 will not be starting over, as the dev made sure their progress before means something in Hitman 3, i.e. progress, unlocks and mastery are carried over. Additionally, all the levels from 1 and 2 will be playable in the final chapter.
