The gaming world received a small shock yesterday when Arrowhead Game Studios, the developers behind the competitive shooter Helldivers 2, announced that their game will finally be released on Xbox Series X|S, after two years of exclusivity on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Of course, whenever a new game is announced for Microsoft's console, gamers begin to wonder if it will be available on the Game Pass subscription as well because it is kind of customary for a lot of new games to end up on this excellent game subscription.
It didn't take long before we actually got an answer, and from none other than the developers themselves. On the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel, the question about availability popped up, and one of the staff members responded with the simple answer: "Definitely not. No plans to bring it to Game Pass."
This info or answer was spotted by Video Gamer first, with some additional info regarding the Xbox Series X|S version of Helldivers 2. Apart from not coming to Game Pass, Arrowhead also confirmed that the game won't support crossplay and cross-progression.
Luckily, Helldivers 2 isn't a full-priced title, and the basic version will be sold for $39.99, which is quite affordable for today's standards, where Xbox games are sold for $80, so the abstention from Game Pass won't hurt a lot.
No doubt Helldivers will rise in popularity once it comes out for Xbox Series X|S, because it was one of the most popular games on PlayStation and Steam in 2024. Helldivers will come to Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025.
