IllFonic and Gun Interactive have officially announced Halloween, a new asymmetric stealth horror game based on John Carpenter’s legendary 1978 film. Revealed during PlayStation’s latest State of Play, the game is set to release on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Single-player and Multiplayer Modes Confirmed
Set in the eerie town of Haddonfield, Halloween lets players experience the terror of Carpenter’s classic in both single-player and multiplayer modes. Matches play out as tense cat-and-mouse encounters: civilians must scavenge for supplies, protect townsfolk, and find a way to call the police, while Michael Myers stalks the streets and shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Michael brings unique abilities, including “Shape Jump,” which allows him to move unseen across the map before launching sudden attacks. Survivors, meanwhile, will need to rely on teamwork, strategy, and quick thinking to escape.
“Our goal is to push the horror experience to the next level with single and multiplayer modes so players can get the most out of the game,” said Jared Gerritzen, CCO of IllFonic. “Whether they become the boogeyman or fight to protect Michael Myers’ victims, Halloween promises an unforgettable battle of fear and survival.”
The announcement positions Halloween as a direct competitor in the growing asymmetric horror genre, alongside titles like Dead by Daylight and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (also co-published by Gun Interactive). With its official partnership with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, the game is being developed as an authentic tribute to the original film.
Fans of horror games and the Halloween franchise will have to wait until September 2026, but IllFonic promises that Michael Myers’ digital debut will deliver a faithful and terrifying experience on both PC and next-gen consoles.
