Shiro Games' tactical RPG Wartales gets an expansion that lets players rule as medieval lords while continuing their mercenary campaigns, adding persistent progression and resource management.

Shiro Games has launched Contract: The Fief DLC for Wartales, introducing territory management mechanics to the million-selling medieval tactical open-world RPG. Available today on PC via Steam and GOG for $12.99, the expansion seamlessly integrates lordship gameplay into the base campaign experience.

Rule Your Own Domain

The DLC transforms sellswords into feudal lords, tasking players with governing lawless territories through policy decisions that directly impact subjects' lives. Players must expand their fiefdom district by district while managing essential resources, including food, defence, comfort, and education systems.

Four distinct population types - peasants, nobles, scholars, and clergy - will each compete for influence and control within your domain, creating an interesting challenge for the players.

Your leadership choices can shape the fiefdom's cultural and political direction toward erudition, militarism, commerce, or criminality, creating meaningful long-term consequences.

Fan-requrested Progression System

Game Director Quentin Lapeyre explained the expansion addresses fan requests: "Contract: The Fief DLC introduces a layer of progression into Wartales, a long-awaited and requested feature from our fans. During each rest cycle, sellswords turned lords must produce and manage resources to meet the evolving needs of their population."

This persistent experience continues alongside the main mercenary campaign, adding strategic depth without disrupting the core gameplay loop that made Wartales successful.

Launch Details, Pricing and Supported Languages

The expansion launches with a 10% discount for the first 14 days, bringing the price down from $12.99. Language support includes English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
