Epic have officially kicked off Fortnite's Season 7 and there's a bunch of additions, starting with the X-4 Stormwing plane, the new Iceberg biome, three new points of interest called Frosty Flights, Polar Peak and Happy Hamlet and more.

Fortnite's X-4 Stormwing plane is actually a 5 seater vehicle, one of whom has to be a pilot of course. The plane sports a machine gun with overheat mechanic, so it's got offensive capabilities as well.

The Stormwing is meant to be pretty manoeuvrable, using sharp turns, upside down flying, barrel rolls as well as boosts and airbrakes. As you'd expect, jumping out of it, for whatever reason, is just like jumping out of Fortnite's bus and players "go into the skydiving state".

Epic tweaked Fortnite's balloons to allow for using weapons and items while they're equipped. Players can strap up to three balloons to their backs, the third of which will mean liftoff. Balloon stack sizes have been cut from 20 to 10 though.

Along with the Iceberg biome, Fortnite received three new locations - Frosty Flights, Polar Peak and Happy Hamlet. Note however that "other unnamed Points of Interest (POIs) have also appeared across the island."

With the start of Season 7, Fortnite: Battle Royale is getting wraps, i.e. skins, which will be unlocked by levelling up your Battle Pass. Players can equip them in their lockers and apply them "to items like vehicles, shotguns, rifles and more".

Sticking with the holiday realism, Fortnite now has icy surfaces, which can be found in snowy areas. Needless to say, they're slippery and will make movement a bit more difficult.

To make traversing easier though, Epic added ziplines, which can be found around the Iceberg and near expedition outposts. Latching onto them and zipping around should be a fairly simple affair and using them doesn't prevent Fortnite players from using weapons or items.

There's a new Fortnite tournament as well, the Explorer Pop-Up Cup, which has materials capped at 700, 500 and 300 for wood, stone and metal, respectively. Eliminating players gets you 100, 50 and 50 of wood, stone and metal, as well as 50 health. Supply drops are more frequent in later stages while "circle 9 now travels twice as far but takes twice as long to close".

As usual, the new season means some items are being vaulted so it's time to say goodbye to shadow stones, Port-a-Fort, chiller, clinger, double barrel shotgun and shockwave nades.
