Epic Games rolled out the v9.21 update to Fortnite: Battle Royale and its most notable feature are the Proximity Grenade Launcher, which lets you bounce your shots around corners, and new 4-player co-op limited time mode - Horde Rush.
As you can see from the brief but quite proficient demonstration in the video above, Proximity Grenade Launchers fire an arcing, bouncing projectile that explodes once it's close to the opponent.
Fortnite's new weapon comes in epic and legendary rarities, and it can be found in Chests, Loot Carriers, Supply Drops and Vending Machines.
It deals 66/70 player and 131/138 environmental damage, with projectiles exploding after 10 seconds or after nearly coming to a stop.
Proximity Grenade Launcher is, of course, a semi-automatic weapon that shoots 0.65 rounds per second. It holds 2 explosive rounds of Rocket ammo in its chamber and reloads in 2.8/3 seconds.
Overall, it looks like a gun with some scary potential for Fortnite players who get enough practice under their belt, although we've no doubt that there will be some natural talents right from the get go. It's bouncing time.
Fortnite is also getting a new 4-player Co-op Limited Time Mode called Horde Rush, which kicks off tomorrow, 13 June 2019.
"Fortnite Fiends are back on the island and angrier than ever! Fight alongside your teammates to rack up your score by finding hidden score multipliers, opening special loot chests, and eliminating as many monsters as you can", Epic wrote.
Horde Rush will have Fortnite players traversing the map to the next defence point, and respawning is enabled until the last stage, when players will have to work together to destroy a Boss Fiend and his horde of minions.
Epic said Fortnite players should be on the lookout for special loot chests, which hold powerful weapons and scoring bonuses that could help them on their quest.
Fortnite's v9.21 update also brings a bunch of tweaks such as increased drop chances for small and regular Shield Potions, Shotguns, Infantry Rifle's epic and legendary variants, and decreased the availability of Heavy Assault Rifle's common variant.
