Xbox exclusive Fable has reportedly entered full production but it's still a long way off, according to VGC reporter Andy Robinson.
Fable has been in development for quite a while now but by the looks of it, it'll be worth waiting for as Playground Games are cooking something really special, with terms like "Witcher-like" being thrown around within the dev team.
According to previous job listings, Fable started the concept phase sometime in 2018. Microsoft announced the game at their Xbox Games Showcase in 2020.
Some earlier reports suggested that the development of the game is going slower than anticipated due to Playground's decision to use the Forza Tech engine instead of Unreal Engine 5.
Forza Tech was primarily used for Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport games so obviously it never had systems in place for an action RPG.
Playground Games had to build these from scratch which is one of the reasons why we'll be waiting for Fable a bit longer.
Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer previously teased Fable, saying that the latest build of the game "looks great". Head of Xbox studios Matt Booty also praised the work of Playground Games, saying how he wanted to show Fable gameplay but the studio are adamant that such a reveal will happen only when they are ready.
Anyway, as always with unconfirmed claims, we suggest you take VGC's info about Fable with a grain of salt just like any other rumour or leak.
Fable will be launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Game Pass.
