Some games are proud of having minor interactions with the environment while Dragon's Dogma 2 is pushing the concept one step further.

Capcom seems to be onto another winning entry, following the universally acclaimed Street Fighter 6 as they plunged into a Dragon's Dogma 2 gameplay deep dive.

The video begins somewhat slow with the showcase of the four classes - Warrior, Thief, Mage and Archer, as their roles are explained to be the same ones we've seen time and again.

It is when the focus shifts to what you can do with the combat zones that the showcase becomes really interesting.

The battlefields often have environmental hazards that you can utilise to your advantage. For example, if an overbearing foe is about to trample your party, you can poke a hole in a dam to get the subsequent water torrent to push the enemy away and possibly damage them.

Similarly, large enemies can be climbed and even used as bridges, if you down them near two ends of a chasm.

Perhaps most interestingly, Pawns, your NPC allies that accompany you on the adventures can save your life in more ways than one. The video shows a player falling after an unsuccessful attempt to hitch a ride on a bird, only to be saved by a Pawn who caught them before the earth did.

Finally, the video shows the advanced classes such as Mystic Spearhand and Magick Archer. Should you arsenal of spells and physical attacks not be enough while playing the Mystic Spearhand, you can always throw an enemy at their allies, offering even more creative ways to win battles in the process.

Those who attend Tokyo Game Show 2023 will have an opportunity to play the game at the Capcom booth.
