Following the disappointing launch of sci-fi horror The Callisto Protocol, Glen Schofield has left Striking Distance Studio to purse other opportunities.

Glen Schofield is leaving Krafton and their first party studio Striking Distance, it's been announced. Schofield confirmed that he "decided to pursue new opportunities" calling the departure "bittersweet".

Along with Schofield, Striking Distance's chief operating officer and chief financial officer are leaving too. Krafton commented that all three departures were voluntary, according to report from Bloomberg.

Schofield leaves the studio following the disappointing launch of The Callisto Protocol, which didn't meet Krafton's sales expectations nor critical reception.

In our review, we noted several issues that made The Callisto Protocol a mediocre horror experience. It was certainly one of those games that looked absolutely stunning in pre-release trailers, generating a lot of hype among the horror community but sadly, didn't deliver in many ways.

Despite this, it's sad to see Schofield leaving the studio that he founded back in 2019, specifically to work on a successor to the Dead Space series, which he co-created. It will certainly be interesting to see how Krafton handle Striking Distance Studios moving forward, and whether they allow the studio to work on a different genre of games.

The official comment from the publisher is that the plans for the studio and their future games remain unaffected, which is encouraging.
