Dragon's Dogma 2 comes with a wide variety of vocations for various gameplay styles. From your big and heavy melee tanks to sorcerers and archers but also some very unique concepts like Trickster.
When Capcom initially revealed the Trickster vocation, players praised the developers for their creativity and thinking outside of the standard RPG boundaries. Trickster is a support class that can trick mobs into jumping off cliffs and running straight into traps but also buff pawns who are the main damage dealers.
And while the vocation sounds very interesting on paper, players have discovered that Trickster is not as fun as other vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2 mainly due to the fact that it can't deal any direct damage.
One of the biggest complaints players have regarding Trickster is that fights generally last longer when compared to other vocations and pawns can sometimes simply stand around being completely useless.
This is probably a glitch in the game as it happens fairly often, frustrating players who expect their pawns to be the main damage dealers. Players also state that watching enemies jump from cliffs is fun for the first couple of hours but gets repetitive as you're using one skill all the time.
However, there are some players who think the vocation can be fun as it's pretty overpowered in fights against regular enemies and bosses. They also point out that the rest of the squad needs to be properly balanced to get the best out of Trickster which is certainly valid advice.
In the end, this vocation was never supposed to be popular or mainstream as it's very different to traditional classes in RPG games. Trickster is probably for those players who are looking for something unique and that may not bring as much as fun as other proven classes.
Whichever vocation you end up picking, just make sure your group is well-balanced and includes other vocations. You certainly don't want to have four warriors in your party.
