Dragon's Dogma 2 has sold over 2.5 million copies since it launched on March 22, 2024, Capcom announced today. This makes Dragon's Dogma 2 one of the fastest-selling Capcom games ever.
Capcom also announced that the Dragon's Dogma franchise as a whole has exceeded 10 million units sold cumulatively. Dragon's Dogma franchise consists of three releases - Dragon's Dogma, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen which is a re-release of the original and the recent Dragon's Dogma 2.
It's safe to say that the franchise has been massively successful for Capcom so it's a bit surprising that we got the sequel only now and not sooner.
When compared to other Capcom games, Dragon's Dogma titles fail to enter the top 10, mainly due to Capcom's globally popular series like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil.
For Capcom, the sales surely show that the Dragon's Dogma franchise should be one of their key pillars in addition to franchises like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry.
Capcom's best-selling games
- Monster Hunter World - 23.10 million
- Monster Hunter Rise - 13.60 million
- Resident Evil 2 Remake - 13.10 million
- Resident Evil 7 - 12.70 million
- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - 10.70 million
- Resident Evil 5 - 8.90 million
- Resident Evil 6 - 8.90 million
- Resident Evil Village - 8.70 million
- Resident Evil 3 - 8 million
- Devil May Cry 5 - 7.40 million
It's safe to say that it will take a while before we see a Dragon's Dogma game on this list but with the start Dragon's Dogma 2 had, it certainly has great potential to achieve that goal, especially with potential expansions and re-release similar to Dark Arisen in a few years.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. For more about the game, including various guides for quests and puzzles, check out some of the links below.
