Following the disastrous launch of Dragon's Dogma 2 on Steam, which resulted in "Mosty Negative" reviews and criticism for poor game performance and microtransactions, Capcom have released an official statement, apologising to the community for such a release.
"We would like to update you on the status of the following items, about which we have received numerous comments from the community. To all those looking forward to this game, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience," Capcom stated in the message.
The publisher also confirmed that they are looking to add an option that would allow players who already started playing to start a new game. Yes, believe it or not, that's missing in an AAA title in 2024.
As for the DLC, Capcom simply listed the DLC to reiterate that these can be obtained in-game or as paid DLC, refusing to comment on whether they have plans to change this approach.
Capcom hid the fact that the game will have microtransactions on launch during the pre-release interviews and previews, which made the community pissed off and rightly so.
In the end, they also mentioned that some improvements to the CPU usage are being worked on. Dragon's Dogma 2 suffers from some very underwhelming frame-rate drops and stuttering, especially in towns with many NPCs, which is where the CPU performance becomes a bottleneck.
Hopefully these and all other issues that are currently preventing players from enjoying this otherwise excellent RPG are ironed out soon. But one does wonder why the game had to be launched in such a poor state in the first place.
