Discord is going to start implementing their age verification feature. They had said they would have it out earlier this year but pushed it to late 2026.
They are starting to roll it out now. Discord wants to prevent minors from seeing explicit content. Content will be blurred for those under 18 and explicit channels will be blocked from view.
There will be options for those who Discord deems to be under 18 if they want to verify that they are over. This can be done through face video or ID photo.
Discord will first determine your age automatically according to their co-founder and CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy. They will look at things like how old your account is and what servers you are in. They will not be looking through any of your messages or calls or anything else on your account.
Your account will not be changed if Discord determines you to be over 18. If they deem you to be between the ages of 13 and 17 your account will have restrictions.
Different Ways To Verify Your Age
Discord states that you will be able to verify your age by many methods. Some may require you to submit a face video or id. Others may allow you to use your credit card or apple/google to show you are a certain age.
Whatever you submit to verify your age will only be used to find out what age bracket you fall under.
This is happening worldwide. It will just depend on when Discord rolls it out to you. Discord stated they will do this world wide instead of wait for age verification laws to go into effect.
