Larian Studios have always been big on the player expression part in their games and Baldur's Gate 3 is going to build on that habit.
At launch, the game will feature nine races and 17 subraces in total, giving players a ton of opportunity to live out their fantasies as various races.
That will come in handy with new playthroughs, of which there will be many, provided you want to see all the different choices during the game and their effects on a playthrough.

Humans, Half-Orcs and Githyanki are the only ones without subraces but considering there are 31 subraces in total, we doubt there will be any issues with finding something players like.
After all, these are just the races and subraces that will be available at launch while potential DLC is not revealed yet.
As you can imagine, the different races and even subraces will have different attributes as well as other bonuses, which will give you an extra layer to enjoy.
