Destiny 2 story is going in a weird direction with Season of the Lost and before Bungie could reveal it, a leak happened. Spoilers are ahead so read at your discretion.
Bungie is not exactly known for great story exposition. Destiny 2 lore is partially presented to the player through a cutscene every few months and the rest is hidden in lore entries of the game's loot. Yes, you can press a button while inspecting a gun or armour piece and a lore tab will appear, telling you a small story or a scrap of it.
Anyway, those who did follow the story so far, more or less, will probably be interested to know that somehow and for some reason, in Season of the Lost, we will discover that the Witch Queen managed to get Light for herself and select Hive. You heard it right - they are using the Traveller's power.
This information comes from another massive leak of information that will probably be presented during the Destiny 2 showcase. Savathun's secret to obtaining Light appears to be the focus of Season 15 and we will have to "fight [our] way through her web of lies", which probably means we will get an objective to kill some random Knights or something while being spoon-fed the information by the quest marker.

Moreover, we will apparently interact with some sort of a Hive Ghost and there are references to Savathun's own Ghost. Therefore, if we eventually get to attack the queen, we will face two layers of invulnerability as we will have to defeat her in her Throne World and kill or incapacitate her Ghost.
