It seems that Improbable, maker of SpatialOS platform, haven't wasted any time in looking for allies after their bust-up with Unity, as the latest announcement saw Crytek announce a AAA title and Spatial OS Game Dev Kit for CryEngine.
Crytek broke the news via a blog post, where they wrote, "Crytek is happy to join Epic Games and Improbable in reaffirming our commitment to giving game developers the best combination of engine and games technology, supported by empowering standards that work for everyone."
In short, CryEngine is soon getting a fully-featured SpatialOS Game Development Kit for CryEngine, which should make development quite a bit easier. In case you're not familiar with SpatialOS, we're talking about an established cloud platform that removes management of real-time multiplayer games from the development equation.
The most interesting part of the announcement, however, is the part where Crytek said that "Improbable and Crytek will be working together on a new AAA game together, built using CryEngine and SpatialOS."
Unfortunately, that's all the information the two have provided but they did say that they'll share more soon. That being said, Crytek haven't exactly been prominent in the AAA sector in these past years and we guess it's a bit late to try and cram SpatialOS into Hunt: Showdown. Either way we should know soon enough.
Improbable should be pretty happy about how things have turned out, especially considering that their cries of Unity's unfair treatment have taken a strange twist after the latter's blog post.
Unity's team claim that Improbable's public interpretation of the Unity Engine's Terms of Service was incorrect and misleading to their fans, as they failed to mention that their snub was a result of more than a year worth of verbal and written warnings over misusing the Unity brand.

That, however, didn't stop Improbable to quickly seek allies in midst of the confusion, which they did, starting with Epic Games who fund to help devs switch. As noble as it may have been, it just seems like they too have been duped by Improbable's narrative, but we'll see whether they end up facing the same issues that Unity faced.
