Ever since Pearl Abyss officially announced Crimson Desert almost five years ago in November 2019, fans of the fantasy RPGs and adventures have been keeping a close eye on this ambitious project.
The publisher have been releasing new footage of the game, showcasing a vast and stunning open world, traversal options and combat but sadly, without a concrete release date.

Crimson Desert was also delayed several times, which could be a cause for concern, but Pearl Abyss have eased those fears at their latest earnings call, stating that they are ready to show players what the game is all about at the upcoming gaming expo Gamescom.
According to the publisher, Crimson Desert will have a playable demo at Gamescom, meaning that players who don't mind standing in line for hours will get to play a specific part of the game for a limited time.
"For Crimson Desert with development in its last stages, we plan to start full-fledged marketing. First, we will participate in Gamescom, the biggest global game event and plan to hold demos for users," they said.
The publisher didn't go into detail on what exactly the demo will include but our safe assumption would be that players will get to explore a bit of the open world and engage in some combat. You know, the usual stuff.
Pearl Abyss also added that their plan is to start with a more aggressive marketing campaign for Crimson Desert at Gamescom and until launch. Speaking about the launch, there is still no release date on the horizon.
The publisher have repeated once again that the game is in the final stages of development but it feels like we've been hearing that statement for the last two years which is why you should take everything with a grain of salt.
Crimson Desert still does not have confirmed platforms. PC players can be confident that the game will arrive to their platform since Pearl Abyss said the game will launch on PC and console. However, it remains a mystery whether the game will launch on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, given that the publisher said several times they are looking at various options regarding publishing partnerships.
This means Crimson Desert could end up being a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S console exclusive, but none of that is officially confirmed yet.
