Sony revealed first gameplay for their upcoming 5v5 first person shooter Concord and it's safe to say that fans are not impressed.

Concord is one of the big new live service games from Sony and last night during State of Play we got to see the first lengthy gameplay footage, that gave us an idea of what to expect when the game finally launches on August 23, 2024 for PC and PlayStation 5.

And while Sony seems pretty confident that Concord will be a big hit, the reception on social media and gaming forums is mixed to say the least. On YouTube, the gameplay trailer received overwhelmingly negative reception with 12.5k dislikes and only 2.5k likes.

Surprisingly, the comment section is not toxic at all and it's mostly players joking around the game's concept and design that seems to borrow a bit too much from other titles like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Overwatch 2, Destiny 2 and Suicide Squad.

Generally, players seem to agree that Concord lacks true identity and soul, looking too generic to the point it's almost a parody video game.

"It's like a parody game of every trope in the modern west coast game dev sphere."

"Should someone tell Sony they are about 8 years too late for the Hero Shooter fad?"

"How generic you want your game? -Yes"

"Game has aged like milk and it isn't even out yet"

These are just some of comments on the Concord trailer. Basically, players expected a different game, not 5v5 hero shooter that doesn't seem like it's brining anything new to the table.

I'd say it's definitely too early to say whether Concord is a potential hit or just another shooter that will be forgotten in mere months.

The upcoming beta should give us an answer to that question but you can already tell from the reactions that it's not going to be easy to win over players, who have been playing similar games since 2015.
