Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone kicked off Season 5 recently, but the update brought with it a few problems as well, most notably the one with FR 5.56's underbarrel shotgun.
It clearly took a while for Call of Duty players to catch on but now that they have - it's been quite frustrating fighting them when they're rocking FR 5.56.
The problem is actually in the underbarrel shotgun, whose behaviour is more along the lines of a sniper among shotguns. While the shotgun is meant to tear players up close range, as is the case with shotguns, the Season 5 update made it retain the one-shot kill capability up to 15 meters.
And we're not talking about damaged enemies either - FR 5.56's underbarrel shotgun rips through Call of Duty MW/Warzone players with full armour plates. The fact that its punching power does this up to 15 meters, however, is clearly a problem and Infinity Ward reacted relatively quickly upon finding out.
"We've identified the issue with the FR 5.56 and are currently working on a fix. We'll share more details as they become available. Thank you all for your patience", they tweeted.
YouTube user TheXclusiveAce did some testing in his video, and he suspects that it has something to do with FR 5.56's extended range. His testing showed that the gun inflicts the same damage at 200 metres as it does up close, and this may have carried over to the underbarrel shotgun.
If there's any consolation, it's that Call of Duty: MW/Warzone players have to replenish their ammo via a munitions box - picking up random shotgun ammo won't work. Additionally, it's not exactly the best gun in the game, even with the exploit, but Infinity Ward should patch it out soon.
