According to reliable leaker Tom Henderson, Call of Duty 2021 will be another Modern Warfare title of some kind, with a modern-day setting. At the moment, the details about the game are pretty scarce but it's possible we're getting Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is the most successful Call of Duty game of all time commercially and many hardcore fans would agree that it's also one of the best games in the franchise when it comes to gameplay, content and features.
Before the game was even announced, we knew that Activision plan a soft reboot of the Modern Warfare series, which means more modern-day setting games are on the way. And today, we have first details about the next game, thanks to reliable leaker Tom Henderson.
According to Henderson's sources, Call of Duty 2021 will be another Modern Warfare title with a modern-day setting. "It's looking like CoD for 2021 is another Modern Warfare title of some kind. Understandably not a lot of information as of yet, but it's a modern-day setting," he tweeted.
If this is indeed the case, then Modern Warfare 2 would be the most logical thing, especially after that cliffhanger in Modern Warfare's singleplayer campaign. However, until we get more information, take this with a grain of salt.
Infinity Ward would probably helm the project, since Modern Warfare is their series, while Sledgehammer Games could act as a supporting studio, after the recent changes in Call of the Duty development cycle.
It's also worth mentioning that Treyarch and Infinity Ward's Black Ops and Modern Warfare series, respectively, will probably rotate for the foreseeable future so Modern Warfare 2 game in 2021 certainly looks like the next step for the franchise.
