Treyarch have announced that Call of Duty Black Ops 4's battle royale mode Blackout will be available as a free download for everyone from 02 April to 30 April 2019. The promo offer comes with a new, long-awaited Alcatraz prison map.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4's battle royale mode Blackout will be available as a free download for everyone for a limited time, it's been announced by the developer Treyarch. The promo offer will include only Blackout mode and it will be available from 02 April to 30 April 2019.
Once the promotion officially starts, you will be able to download Blackout on Battle.net launcher and level up your character, unlock items and earn rewards. If you decide to buy the full game or Battle Edition, the progress you made during the free period will carry over to the purchased version.
If you're yet to play Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, the promo period is a great opportunity to try it and who knows, you may like it, and you can always buy Blackout and Multiplayer modes only in a cheaper, Battle Edition of Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
Blackout promotion comes with a new, long-awaited map named Alcatraz prison. The new map is a bit different take on the battle royale genre. It's a separate, close quarters map, it will have its own playlist and environment and it won't be part of the existing Blackout map.
Judging by the trailer, Alcatraz will include Zombies and Down But Not Out mode which allows players to respawn during the match if one of their squadmates is alive. Unfortunately, the new map will be available only on PlayStation 4 in the first week, with PC and Xbox One releases coming later.
This is, of course, standard release scheduled for new Call of Duty Black Ops 4 content, but given that Treyarch and Activision are offering Blackout for free, it wouldn't hurt if they added the new map simultaneously on all platforms.
