Fallout titles are currently trending worldwide following the release of the Amazon-produced Fallout TV show. Die-hard fans of the survival action RPG are swarming back to past Fallout titles.
While Fallout 76 is the most recent title out of the series, players are making their way back into Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4. Fallout 4 was released for past-gen consoles and PC in 2015, and it has been loved by fans all over the world.
To celebrate the success of Fallout TV series and the revival of the player base, Bethesda has decided to release a dedicated next-gen update for Fallout 4 which will be available for all Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 users.
Bethesda releases the Next-gen update for Fallout 4
With the next-gen update, Fallout 4 will be natively available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X instead of being available with past-compatibility. Aside from this, here are the other changes and new features in the Fallout 4 update:
Changes and New Features
- Native PS5 and Xbox Series applications.
- Includes performance and quality mode options.
- Performance mode: 60 FPS target, 4k resolution, standard settings, relying on dynamic resolution scaling.
- Quality mode: 30 FPS*, 4k resolution, ultra settings, should not require dynamic resolution scaling.
Now when connected to a 120Hz display, the Quality mode will target 40 FPS and when connected to a 1440p display, the title will run at 1440p resolution at 60 FPS with ultra-settings regardless of rendering mode.
Aside from the release next-gen release, Fallout 4 is now available on Epic Store in all regions. Moreover, the game is finally verified for Steam Deck. Bethesda has also added an installed content menu, widescreen and ultra-widescreen support for the game. All PlayStation 5 users who have previously claimed Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4 as a PlayStation plus game will also receive the update for free.
