Today, EA revealed a bunch of details about their plans for Battlefield 2042 in 2023. The team confirmed that Season 4 and Season 5 are on the way with new maps, operators and battle passes.
Battlefield 2042 will get more content as we head into the Year 2 of the game. EA today confirmed that the work on Season 4 is currently underway and that Season 5 is officially coming too.
Both Seasons will introduce a new map, new Specialist, battle pass and everything else that you would usually expect from a new season in Battlefield 2042.
EA and DICE also revealed concept art of the Season 4 map, which is confirmed to be much smaller, shorter, and linear and designed for up close and personal, close-quarters combat. You can check out the map concept art in the image above.
Season 4 Specialist will be placed in the Recon class and surprisingly, this will be the final Specialist in Battlefield 2042. EA say they are now happy with the number of specialists in the game and the variety that each offers.
"With the return to Classes and our roster of 14 in total, we are happy with the number of Specialists and variety of gameplay that they will allow you to experience."
As for Season 5, the details are pretty scarce given that the update is months away but EA did tease the map, saying that this will be a map from Battlefield 4.
"The new Season 5 map coming will be a forgotten battleground that last saw combat in the Battlefield 4 era. An overgrown area, engulfed with vegetation and by the 2042 war. It will encourage a combination of vehicular and infantry combat meaning teamplay is the key to victory," EA said in their blog post.
On top of this, the dev team are still working on major overhauls of Breakaway and Manifest maps, as promised earlier.
