The Imposter is InnerSloth studio, we know that now, as they have killed the Among Us 2, the sequel to their highly-popular 2D online multiplayer game - Among Us.
One month after it was announced, the sequel to the popular Among Us game is canceled.
In its announcement, Innersloth studio writes that while the Among Us codebase is outdated, it makes sense to delay Among Us 2 and to continue work on Among Us 1, given its sudden popularity. Of course, that means a lot of work adapting it for a player base much larger than the guys at studio InnerSloth could have ever dreamed of.
The sudden success of Among Us and its insane popularity on Twitch and social media led to many problems with servers, which is an issue still being addressed.
Here are some things that are coming on the horizon for the imposters Among Us:
- Servers. Forte is still working very hard to figure out our server issues. We don’t have an ETA but things should hopefully be getting better and better. This is taking up all development time on his end.
- Colorblind support. It’s something we’ve put off for way too long… We plan on adding other identifiers for players as well as certain color focused tasks (Like wires). This should also open the potential for more colors. In the past we couldn’t add more colors because it became too difficult to tell players apart.
- Friends/Account System. This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but just haven’t been able to tackle. For the health of the game going forward we’re going to sink our teeth in and figure it out! This one will definitely take some time.
- A new stage! It is still very early and we have only just begun designing the layout. The theme has been settled on though! The next stage in Among Us is going to be a Henry Stickmin themed location!
Innersloth also wrote in their blog that they have lots of other things planned too, that just need to be prioritized and organized in line with all their plans.
Among Us is an online multiplayer social deduction game, developed and published by American game studio InnerSloth and released on June 15, 2018, for Windows, Android, and iOS.
The game takes place in a space-themed setting where players each take on one of two roles, most being Crewmates, and a predetermined number being Impostors. The goal for the Crewmates is to identify the Impostors, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map, and the Impostors' goal is to kill the Crewmates without being identified.
While initially released in 2018 to little mainstream attention, it received an influx of popularity in 2020 due to many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing it.
