Daybreak Games saw an opportunity in launching H1Z1 for PlayStation 4, reaping the massive benefits in the month after the game's Open Beta launch on 22 May 2018. The team has prepared a patch with new features to keep up the pace.
Daybreak Games have also confirmed H1Z1: Battle Royale's success with numbers, as the game has been played by more than 10 million PlayStation 4 players in the past month. These 10 million players make up about 12,5 per cent of PlayStation 4's online player base, making it a huge milestone on its own, resulting in 102 million hours played into H1Z1's first month on the console.
The studio have decided to celebrate the milestones and the game's success by giving freebies to players who participated. Namely, players who downloaded and played the game before 23:59 PT on Wednesday, June 27 2018 will get free Darkfire Pickup Truck and Sunrise Parachute skins. These items will be added directly to their inventory during the next weekend.
Daybreak Games have also added a massive update for H1Z1 on PS4. This update will bring revive mechanics to the game so squad play will get a new layer of depth. Aim acceleration has also been adjusted and lastly, but by no means the leastly, there is a new weapon - the Airstrike Signal.
This item will allow players to drop smoke at the place they want to rain hellfire upon, and it can be used to either cut off an area or to simply brute force opponents. The explosion itself seems to be rather spectacular, as you can see on the screenshot below. The red signal smoke can be glimpsed behind the flames, so make sure you remember to run when you see it.
H1Z1 had already been overhauled in order to cater to the different controller layout for PlayStation 4 as it's not meant to be played with mouse and keyboard on the console, and as it seems now, Daybreak Games will be happy to keep shaping the game up to fit the players' tastes.
