NCSoft announced Aion Classic, the winged MMO is returning to its glory from 2009 but some changes will still be in place.
šFans return to Atreia in Aion: Classic when it launches in the Americas on June 23, 2021. Furthermore, the official website is already live and you can check it out on aionclassic.com .
Just like when the game originally launched, Classic will have the dungeons players can enjoy together by playing the first four character classes. That said, each one of them has two subclasses so the variety will still be there even for the players that joined the game later on.
One announcement from NCSoft that might be worth singling out is about the progression pacing. According to the company, it will be "moderately paced, to increase opportunities for players to explore the world of the Asmodians and the Elyos". World exploration sounds nice and all but this sentence might hint at more grind than players are used to, so be ready for it.
As for monetisation, the game will have subscription and free to play options. You will be able to grab Siel's Aura for real-life currency in order to purchase 30, 90 or 365 days of game time. Alternatively, there will be a three-day pass. Meanwhile, the free-to-play option will be available for everyone but it will be grindy as the players will be getting XP slower.
On top of that, Aion Classic will have battle pass system, which obviously wasn't there in 2009, so it remains to be seen how well it will click with the players.
