The easiest and the hardest this year's platinum trophies

For some players, simply watching the credits roll on video games isn't enough. Some of us like to chase trophies, and although there are not some tangible rewards for such a hunt, the sense of accomplishment is amazing.

Some games are harder than others, but every game poses a challenge when it comes to unlocking the platinum trophy. For some platinum trophies, you have to finish the game several times; some require playing the game on the hardest difficulty, some require speedrunning, and most require you to find every collectable in the game.

The majority of gamers nowadays are casual, meaning people usually go for the main story in games unlocking the trophies that they come across. However, some players like "hunting" for trophies, and I like to think of myself as one of them.

I've unlocked 20 platinum trophies in total over the last year, and some of them caused my palms to sweat frequently. These 20 platinum trophies include not just games from 2022 but also some older releases. However, in this article, I will stick only to the games that came out in 2022 and that I personally beat. Some were simple, while others were difficult, but all of them required a lot of time and dedication to unlock.

Here are my seven 2022 platinum trophies, rated from easiest to most difficult:

1. Stray

Stray is a game that puts us in the "paws" of a little, lost kitten attempting to find his family in a large cyberpunk town full of robots and odd monsters. The game itself is pretty short and can be finished in five hours, but that doesn't mean unlocking platinum will be that easy.

Of course, this is still one of the easiest platinums on PlayStation 5. Most of the trophies in this game are story-related but there are some that will pose a decent amount of challenge, including  Can’t Cat-ch Me: Complete the first Zurk pursuit without being caught; I Am Speed: Complete the game in less than two hours, and Pacifist: Complete the sewers without killing any Zurks. To unlock the platinum, you must earn 24 trophies in total.

2. Horizon Forbidden West

AltChar The platinum trophy for Forbidden West is time-consuming The platinum trophy for Forbidden West is time-consuming

Horizon Forbidden West is much easier to platinum than its predecessor Zero Dawn. The reason this game is not the first on the list is its length. For the 100 per cent completion of the game (which is required for the platinum trophy), you will have to spend roughly 90 hours playing the game, which is a lot.

The only challenging trophy worth mentioning here is Defeated Machine Strike Challengers, where you have to defeat two players in a really frustrating mini-game. It is not that difficult, but it is tedious. In order to unlock the platinum trophy, you will have to earn 58 trophies.

3. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

AltChar Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is one of the most satisficing platinums Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is one of the most satisficing platinums

Although the original Marvel's Spider-Man was released in 2018, the remastered version for PlayStation 5 and PC came out this year. The list of trophies remained pretty much the same, with only one little correction that made this platinum even easier to unlock.

The trophy called "A Suite for All Seasons" can now be unlocked without having to play New Game Plus, which takes less time. There are some difficult trophies, like the ones related to Taskmaster's challenges (the one with the drones is particularly hard), and some that will take a lot of time to unlock, like "I Heart Manhattan," for which you must 100 per cent complete all the districts. You will have to earn 50 trophies to unlock the platinum in this game.

4. The Last of Us Part I

AltChar The Last of Us Part I is way to easier to platinum then the original game The Last of Us Part I is way easier to platinum than the original game

For The Last of Us Part I the developers changed the list of trophies removing some related to multiplayer, and adding some new ones. This game still has some very hard trophies, but compared to The Last of Us, this platinum is much easier.

You still have to find every collectable in the game, which is very time-consuming and almost undoable without the guides, engage in all optional conversations, open all shive doors and more. The best upgrade to the trophy list is leaving out the difficulty-related trophies. The Last of Us Part I has 29 trophies, including platinum.

5. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

AltChar Very hard and very time-consuming platinum Very hard and very time-consuming platinum

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is the only game on this list that didn't come out in 2022, but two years earlier. The reason this game is here is the new content it gets all the time, even in 2022. To unlock the platinum trophy in this game, you will have to work really, really hard.

We all know what kind of open-world games Ubisoft likes to make: huge maps, tons of content, a lot of characters and side quests, and on top of that, unlockable treasure chests in every corner of the world. To achieve platinum, you must unlock the most difficult trophy, "Completionist All the Way!" in which you will have to finish every single activity in AC Valhalla.

Some other trophies will put your dedication to the test. To unlock "Good Catch!" you must catch every type of fish all across England and Norway, and it is not an easy task. "Orlog Champion" will require you to beat all 19 Orlog champions throughout England (Orlog is a board mini-game with very complex rules), and "Overdesign II" is the next level of frustration where you must kill three overpowered, shielded enemies while you are on fire, without breaking their shields (seriously, Ubisoft , who comes up with such ideas?).

So, to unlock the platinum in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, you must finish the game with 100 per cent completion, which will take around 140 hours, and unlock some "hard" trophies, which will require you to spend another ten to twenty hours in the game. If you are up to losing so much time in your life, then this platinum is for you. There are 51 trophies in the base game, including the platinum trophy.

6. God of War: Ragnarök

Very difficult platinum due to optional bosses Very difficult platinum due to optional bosses

God of War: Ragnarök will put your gaming skills to the test, whether you play this game on easy or hard if you want to earn The Bear and the Wolf (Platinum) trophy. The majority of trophies in this game are story related, so to unlock those, you will have to beat the game on any difficulty, and that is not so hard.

There are time-consuming trophies that will unlock after you discover all collectables throughout the game, like destroying Odin's ravens, obtaining all of the Apples of Idunn and Horns of Blood Mead, obtaining all the shields, etc.

But what makes this platinum one of the toughest is the optional content or the optional bosses, to be specific. We all remember how challenging Sigrun was in God of War 2018. Well, this time, in order to unlock platinum, you will have to fight not one but two optional bosses and those fights are really tough. God of War: Ragnarök has 36 trophies to unlock.

7. Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves

AltChar The hardest platinum from PS4, is now even harder The hardest platinum from PS4, now even harder

Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves is a remastered version of Uncharted 4: The Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy that came out this year for PlayStation 5 and PC. Those two titles were among the most difficult to platinum on PlayStation 4, and today, to get the platinum trophy for The Legacy of Thieves, you must unlock 101 trophies from both games.

Some multiplayer-related trophies from Uncharted 4 are removed, and that made this platinum much easier, but those difficulty-related trophies are still there, and to earn those, you must finish both games on crashing difficulty, and that's not an easy task.

Also, you will have to collect all the treasures, documents, and drawings, and participate in all optional conversations in both games. This is the hardest platinum on this list and if you want to go for it you must dedicate yourself to Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves for more than 160 hours.
