Pokemon GO Raid Battles to feature Rayquaza

Niantic announced two new Gen 3 Legendary Pokemon will be available in Pokemon GO for a limited time. The Legendaries will be accompanied by other monsters from the Hoenn region. New special boxes available at the in-game store for a limited time.

Niantic came out and apologised for the mistake they've made regarding EX Raid invites. Turns out that a bug caused the wrong invites to be sent out. In the future, more gyms will be eligible to host the EX Raid battles and more Trainers will receive invites.

Pokemon GO seems to have made some changes to the way players get invited to EX Raids. Many players reported that they got an invite to a gym that's far away from their home. In some cases, players haven't been to the gyms they're invited to since their summer holiday.

Niantic released a new update for Pokemon GO. The latest patch adds a "Shiny" filter to the game's search function. Dataminers have uncovered some new quests as well as added attributes for Deoxys and Castform.

Niantic recently joined forces with augmented reality startup Escher Reality. The two will work on making a persistent, shared AR game world similar to a MMO. The cross platform technology should be available more widely to developers later this year.

Niantic has unleashed 23 new Pokemon into the wild of Pokemon GO. The latest set of Gen 3 Pokemon will include monsters from the Hoenn region in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games. The upcoming Community day will focus on Dratini.

The latest Pokemon GO update bids farewell to holiday decorations, adds a new loading screen, fixes some bugs and brings a few quality of life improvements to round things up.

New Pokemon GO EX Raid invites are going out

Select Pokemon GO players have recently received their invites for the next EX Raid Battle. The upcoming battle is set to go down on 24 January 2018. If your EX Raid Battle gets cancelled, you'll get an in-game notification, some Stardust and Premium Raid Passes.

JANUARY 15

Pokemon GO - no Celebi for old devices

Pokemon GO will stop running on Apple products made before 2013. The players who own the affected devices will have to upgrade in order to play the game. The change will roll out on 28 February. Apple products are the only ones affected at the time.

JANUARY 10

Pokemon GO - Holiday event updated

Niantic added a new attack animation to the game. Delibird and any costumed Pikachu can now learn the Present move, and every Santa Hat Pikachu in the wild knows the move "naturally". The new attack animation might not be the last bit of Holiday cheer that'll roll out before the Holiday event ends.

Pokemon GO's holiday season

Niantic kicked off this holiday season with a bang and a bunch of new Pokemon. A new - festive - Pikachu has been added to Pokemon GO. Water-type and Ice-type Pokemon from the Hoenn region have been spotted around the world.

Pokemon GO's new AR+ mode

Niantic and The Pokémon Company will soon roll out a new update for Pokemon GO. The update will only affect devices running iOS 11 and individual Pokemon will be more accurately positioned based on their surroundings.

Pokemon GO's in-game maps have been updated and now feature the latest changes added to the OSM data set. The changes first started in Australia and are now affecting the rest of the world. Ho-Oh is still available in Raid Battles worldwide.

NOVEMBER 30

Ho-Oh now available in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO has added Ho-Oh as a Raid Boss. The legendary bird can be found in Gyms worldwide. The six hour lures given as rewards in the Global Catch Challenge will remain active until Friday, 01 December.

NOVEMBER 28

Pokemon GO - EX Raid Battles have launched

Pokemon GO was recently updated to version 0.83.1 for Android and 1.53.2 for iOS devices. EX Raid Battles have left the "field test" stage. The standard Raid Battles have been updated as well.

NOVEMBER 22

A Harry Potter AR game in the works

Niantic is working on a new AR game. The game will be called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. "Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighbourhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies."

NOVEMBER 10

Pokemon GO - shorter Raids and new Bosses

Niantic released a Pokemon GO update that shortened the game's Raids and added a bunch of new Pokemon. November marks the final migration of the game's three current Legendary dogs. Niantic has a new type of encounter called EX Raids in the works.

NOVEMBER 7

Pokemon Go's Halloween Event: two new shinies

All five of the third generation ghost-type Pokemon have been added to Pokemon Go as part of this year's Halloween event. Over 130 Pokemon are scheduled to make an appearance in Pokemon Go sometime in the future. The Halloween event ends on 02 November.

Niantic is holding a Pokemon GO AR Photo Contest. You can enter using photos taken in Pokemon GO. The contest will end on 25 October.

Pokemon GO will get trading and trainer battles, eventually

The CEO of the Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara recently spoke to Bloomberg about planned and upcoming features for Pokemon GO. Niantic has a very long way to go before the game fulfills its full potential, Pokemon trading and trainer battles included.

SEPTEMBER 6

Pokemon Go - New Legendary Pokemon

Three Legendary Pokemon are about to enter the world of Pokemon Go. Raikou, Entei, and Suicune will be available for a limited time. Also, EX Raid Battle field-test will soon be available in select regions around the world.

What happens when you corral a lot of people onto a festival area and have them try and play Pokemon GO? Everyone's internet connection gets all jumbled up and fails, that's what. This is the exact thing that happened In Chicago during the Pokemon Go Fest. Attendees weren't happy.
