Pokemon GO welcomes 23 new monsters from the Hoenn region

Niantic has recently announced that no less than 23 additional Pokemon will start popping up in Pokemon Go. The new monsters are from the Hoenn region in the Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire video games. 

The latest set of Gen 3 Pokemon will include Whismu, Aggron, Trapinch, and Cacnea, all seen in the promo image that Niantic shared along with the announcement. This latest batch of critters is the fourth wave to wash over Pokemon GO since last year's . 

 - the Gen 2 creature - has joined the game right in time for the holidays. It threw out explosive presents out of its sack-like tail. The most recent event in Pokemon GO was the game's first Community Day, and it had its focus on Pikachu. During the event, the Gen 1 electric-type Pokemon had an increased spawn rate, came with the move Surf and a higher chance of being a shiny.

The next event will revolve around Dratini. The second Community Day will happen on 24 February and offer triple Stardust as a resource bonus.
