The latest Pokemon GO update bids farewell to holiday decorations, adds a new loading screen, fixes some bugs and brings a few quality of life improvements to round things up.
The update did some obvious things like getting rid of the Christmas themed loading screen and fidgeted around with the incubators.
The latest patch also brought some quality of life improvements and bug fixes, including the new ability to sort Pokemon by region as well as scaling tweaks in AR mode. The update didn't bring any news of an Easter Event in 2018 but it is a "quality of life goldmine" according to The Silph Road.
Niantic
The Silph Road dug through the update's files and found that an "especially irritating" bug that caused you to be returned to the top of your Pokemon after certain actions is now gone, as scroll position is being tracked more proactively.
Niantic has previously talked about changes to scaling and now they're here. Various Pokemon will appear larger or smaller depending on their environment. The last couple of updates brought a slew of new Pokemon and cluttered up everyone's Pokedex a bit. Niantic has solved the Pokedex issue by adding generation tabs.
Another cool addition the latest patch brought are the shiny icons that now appear in the listing page above any shiny Pokemon you’ve caught. The Pokeball selection history now keeps track of the latest Pokeball you selected.
