Select Pokemon GO players have recently received their invites for the next EX Raid Battle. The upcoming battle is set to go down on 24 January 2018. If your EX Raid Battle gets cancelled, you'll get an in-game notification, some Stardust and Premium Raid Passes.

Pokemon GO's EX Raids shed their field-test label and officially launched in November 2017.

Recently, a fresh batch of EX Raid invites was sent out to Trainers all over the world. The upcoming EX Raid will take place on 24 January 2018. If you've successfully triggered an EX Raid for the first time we also wish you the best of luck out there. To everyone else - you'll get it next time.

Back in November, Niantic said that the new Raid Battles will usually take place at Gyms found in parks and sponsored locations. Your chances of getting an invite increase if you have a a high-level Gym Badge or have completed a larger number of Raid Battles.

The EX Raids will adopt the popular Raid Battle times of a given Gym. If you are invited to an EX Raid Battle which gets cancelled, you'll get an in-game notification, some Stardust and Premium Raid Passes.

In order to further increase your chances of getting an invitation the next time around, you can take a crack at a couple of the following options.

You'll want to only raid the gyms that are located in areas tagged as a park on the OSM. Raiding as a group is encouraged, and you should try to take on more difficult battles.

After weeks of trial and error, we believe to have a somewhat solid grasp of Niantic's behind the scenes tinkering: more difficulty + more players = more activity.

You should also always be aware of the gym's S2 placement, and move to a new cell every time you're done with one. Average cell size used in the EX Raid system distribution is 5.07 km2.
