Some cars in Samson, including your own car, of course, come fitted with nitrous, which you'll spot straight away by the blue flask icons displayed inside the speedometer on the right side of the screen, and with at least one of them filled up. It's a straightforward system, but knowing how to keep it refilled and how to add more flasks to your car makes a meaningful difference during pursuits and jobs where every second counts.
How to use nitrous
While driving, press and hold Shift on the keyboard or A on Xbox and X on PlayStation controllers to activate the nitrous boost. Each press burns through one flask, so keep an eye on how many you have left before committing to a long stretch at full speed.
How to refill nitrous at a garage
The quickest guaranteed refill is at any automotive garage. Drive in, and alongside the repair option you'll see a Refill Nitrous option in the garage menu. Select it to top up all your flasks instantly. This costs money, so factor it in alongside any repair costs you might already be paying for.
How to refill nitrous using sandwich boards
The second way to refill is free but requires a bit of attention while driving. Sandwich boards are small advertising boards placed along the pavements and roadsides throughout Tyndalston. Drive into them to smash them, and each one destroyed will refill your nitrous. They are common enough that you'll knock them over naturally during normal driving, but if you're running low mid-pursuit, keeping an eye out for them along the kerbside can save you a garage trip.
How to upgrade nitrous
Smashing sandwich boards does more than just refill your flasks. Every fifty boards destroyed across your time in Tyndalston will unlock an additional nitrous flask permanently, adding one more boost to your car's capacity. The Collectibles screen in the map menu tracks your progress under Sandwich Boards, showing how many you've destroyed and how far you are from the next flask unlock.
With 188 boards spread across the city's neighbourhoods, there is plenty of opportunity to expand your nitrous capacity well beyond the starting amount.
