Both Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege follow the same formula where the team is composed of those who kill and those who help get the kill, the difference between these two is that one plays to be better than their enemies and the other plays to outsmart their enemies. Both are okay because they synergise perfectly.
We have compiled a list of the best attackers to play in each role in both Seasons 2 and 3 of Year 8 of Rainbow Six Siege and this is who they are:
First Entry Frag
Iana
Iana was the most popular choice among players due to her unique ability to use her clone as a drone or simply disable enemy gadgets without exposing herself too much. That paired with grenades and two good guns to choose from makes her overall a really good choice.
Ash
When someone says "run and gun", Ash is exactly who they are referring to. Her level 3 movement speed, her breaching gadget and the G36C that she shares with Iana mixed with Claymores make her a very aggressive solo carry attacker that does not rely on the team to win rounds.
Second Entry Frag
Jackal
Jackal poses an insane threat to the defenders, especially after his hard counter, Caveira, has become significantly less popular in the meta. Jackal's ability to scan and repeatedly ping enemies imposes fear and makes the roamers retreat to safety, leaving room for his teammates to cut off rotates and set up for site control.
Nokk
Nokk's unique ability to hide from defender cameras and alarms makes her the perfect roaming attacker that sets out to hunt any defender that dares to roam or flank. Equipped with the FMG-9 and the freshly reworked suppressor, Nokk is a rock in many of the defender's shoes. She can easily close in on any site as long as the defenders are occupied with her teammates on the breach.
Flex
Nomad
Since her release, Nomad's role was very clear: Cut off retreating defenders and cut off anyone trying to approach the defuser. Equipped with the very hard-hitting ARX200 with a 1.5 scope and flash bangs, she is a very strong operator for both pre-plant and post-plant situations.
Gridlock
Gridlock might not be the first choice for many players due to her very low movement speed and wide character design but higher elo players find her very viable in moments when it's time to make a play.
Gridlock can easily block off entry points for the defenders with her unique ability and at the same time muffle the sounds of the defuser being planted, leaving all defenders who are out of site completely clueless as to what the attackers are doing.
First Wall Support
Ace
Ace is currently the best wall breacher due to him being able to destroy walls from a safe distance. Additionally, Ace makes it harder for Bandit to do the "Bandit trick" due to the delay in detonation of the S.E.L.M.A. and his ability to place multiple S.E.L.M.A.s at the same time. This paired with the strongest gun in the game, the AK-12 and Claymores for any defenders that dare to run out makes him an overall very dangerous threat.
Hibana
While it might be very hard to compete with Ace, Hibana found a new purpose with her rework a few seasons ago. Her X-KAIROS breaching disks have proven to be the perfect choice for sites that have a lot of hatches.
Her playstyle is centred more around vertical plays through floors rather than actual 1v1 combat. This is further supported by her loadout, the Bearing-9 and the very low capacity Type-89.
Second Wall Support
Thatcher
Even after multiple rework attempts, Thatcher stays the most potent wall support in Rainbow Six Siege. His unique ability allows his hard breacher to open almost every wall without many challenges. Equipped with the L85A2 and Claymores, he is the best wall support a breacher can ask for.
Osa
Osa might be a weird choice for wall support but hear us out. One of her 3 gadget options is an EMP which makes her eligible to help out the breachers. Her unique ability to place a seethrough shield on the breached wall gives the attackers so much space to clear out the site and advance their push.
