Battlefield 6's Battle Royale REDSEC is almost here, and here's how you can download the most-awaited game mode on your PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.

EA and Battlefield Studios are on a roll with Battlefield 6, with the new large-scale shooter breaking player count records on Steam. Since its release on October 10, 2025, players have been waiting for the game's season 1 update.

Moving on from the pre-season state, Battlefield 6 Season 1 will add new maps, weapons, gadgets, and the most-awaited free-to-play Battle Royale mode, REDSEC. If you're eager to jump in REDSEC's ring of fire once it launches on all platforms, then here's how you can download it.

Battlefield 6's Redacted Sector, or REDSEC, is a free-to-play battle royale mode launching on October 28, 2025, with the Season 1 update. Unfortunately, there is no way to preload the game mode before its official release.

However, for Battlefield 6 owners on all platforms, there is an initial step you need to follow to access REDSEC on launch. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it on PC and consoles:

  • Launch Battlefield 6
  • Head to Settings
  • Then navigate to the System tab
  • Click on the Install/Uninstall option
  • Toggle the tick mark on Battlefield REDSEC
  • REDSEC files will be automatically downloaded to your system

The REDSEC file size is reportedly around 8.4 GB on PC and 3.7 GB on consoles. Once downloaded, Battlefield 6 owners can jump into the game mode directly without launching a separate app.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC share the majority of game files, so the download size is naturally smaller for Battlefield 6 owners. On the other hand, for free-to-play downloads, the file size could be around 40-50 GB or more depending on how EA compresses the game files.

Unfortunately, for players who don't own Battlefield 6, you have to download REDSEC once it becomes available on shopfronts on PC and consoles. As a free-to-play game mode, it will be featured in a separate launcher of its own.
