EA and Battlefield Studios have hit it out of the park with Battlefield 6. The new large-scale shooter has garnered a massive player base almost two weeks after its release, breaking player record counts on Steam.
Now adding to the fun, EA is adding a new free-to-play battle royale, REDSEC, with the Season 1 update. The Battle Royale mode will be a separate game on its own tied to Battlefield 6, similar to Call of Duty: Warzone and subsequent Call of Duty titles.
Battlefield 6's REDSEC Battle Royale Mode Launches With Season 1 Update
Battlefield 6 REDSEC will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X from October 28, 2025, with the Season 1 update. Here are the release times for the game mode across different time zones:
- USA: 11AM EST / 8AM PDT
- UK: 4 PM BST
- Central Europe: 5 PM CEST
- Coordinated Universal Time: 3 PM UTC
- India: 11:30 PM IST
- Japan: 3:00 AM JST (October 29)
- Australia: 5:00 AM AEDT (October 29)
REDSEC will be a separate game mode included in Battlefield 6's multiplayer hub. Just like Call of Duty: Warzone 2, players will be able to download the game mode separately.
REDSEC will have its own map on launch with vehicles, tactical destruction, a class system, and reboot mechanics. One of the major game mechanics that separates REDSEC from other battle royale modes is the ring or circle system.
The ring of fire in REDSEC will instantly kill all players on impact, which means there is no rotation around the approaching circle, keeping players on their feet at all times. The deathly ring system will show how the ring affects the pace of the game and how it creates spontaneous showdowns.
REDSEC is surely one of the most hardcore battle royales we have seen to date. The new game mode will be available for download on all platforms as soon as Season 1 goes live on October 28, 2025.
