Funcom has released the patch notes for Dune: Awakening Patch 1.1.10.0, the biggest update to the game since it was released. Based on feedback from players (particularly solo players), the developers are overhauling the game’s endgame, Deep Desert PvE zone, and overall balance.
Dune: Awakening has received several hotfixes since it was released on June 5, but Patch 1.1.10.0 is in another league. The PvE-only Deep Desert zone has been expanded to cover nearly four times its former area, and is populated with all endgame resources so that solo players can play the game’s most lucrative content without stepping foot in the PvP zone.
The update also responds to a laundry list of player requests, buffing up anti-gravity fields, reworking abilities such as Suspensor Dash, and ensuring that Sandworms will target players farming spice aggressively. PC players can already test out the update on the Public Test Client, with the full update to be released to all players within the next week or two.
PvE Expansion and Endgame Balancing
The most notable change in Patch 1.1.10.0 is the Deep Desert overhaul. The PvE-only Deep Desert has now been expanded to take up around half of the entire game world (rows A to D and half of E).
Solo sleepers will now have access to all major resources they need to play the endgame. However, guilds and PvP-oriented players will have an incentive to risk the PvP areas for even higher yields. This should lead to a more even and competitive in-game economy.
Quality-of-Life Updates
Funcom has also added dozens of small but meaningful gameplay changes. Players now have a higher chance of escaping a death by fall due to anti-gravity fields. Ornithopters will immediately land if the player exits the cockpit mid-air, preventing accidental deaths.
Players in streamer mode will now automatically obfuscate sensitive map data, making the game safer to broadcast live for competitive players.
Combat and Sandworm AI Tweaks
Abilities like Suspensor Dash and Thrive on Danger have been fine-tuned to have a clearer purpose and better utility, while Sandworms will now loiter in spicefields following a harvest, making the environment feel more alive - and dangerous - to all players seeking spice.
Patch 1.1.10.0 is available to test on the Public Test Client on Steam at the moment, and should be released to all players within a week or two. For the full list of patch notes, see the game’s official website.
