The Artist was the most unfair killer on release and to this day still stays as one of the least favourite killers for the survivors to go against. This is due to her strong anti-loop and map control.
Dead by Daylight has decided that with Artist they will start countering the strongest ability survivors have, mind games. This is the best perk loadout for the Artist in Behaviour's most recent patch for Dead by Daylight.
Perk Loadout
Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance
At the start of the trial, 4 random hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks, their aura is visible to the killer. The killer starts the trial with 4 tokens, each time a survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook for the first time, 1 token is consumed and the generator with the most progression explodes and instantly regresses by 25% of its maximum possible progression. All survivors that were repairing that generator will scream, but their location will not be revealed.
Once a hook had been activated, the Artist can easily send off her birds in the direction of an explosion and start a chase right after the previous chase had ended.
Barbecue and Chilli
Barbecue and Chilli will always be a meta perk mainly because of how much it synergises with the killers. Barbecue and Chilli is the Cannibal's perk that grants aura-reading abilities once the killer is 40 metres away from a survivor.
Similarily to the Scorge Hook, Barbecue allows the Artist to instantly start a new chase, leaving no breathing room for the survivors.
Lethal Pursuer
At the start of the trial, the killer can see all of the auras of all the survivors for 7/8/9 seconds.
This perk will allow the Artist to instantly fire off her birds and start a chase due to being able to see the survivors before the survivors even know who it is.
Dead Man's Switch
After hooking a survivor, Dead Man's Switch activates for the next 30 seconds. While activated, any Survivor that stops repairing a generator before it is fully repaired causes the Entity to block it until Dead Man's Switch's effect ends. Affected generators are highlighted by a white Aura which is visible to the killer.
Add-ons
The best add-ons for the Artist are Severed Hands (Any survivor in the proximity of a swarmed survivor will also be swarmed) and Festering Carrion (Reduced Birds of Torment cooldown).
