Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes uses the traditional way of healing, using healing items you gather through your gameplay. You stack up on them, and once your health depletes, by pressing a single button (the left arrow on the D-Pad), you restore your health, or at least one chunk of it.
However, gathering those healing items is a bit different in this DLC, and while this game is made by Ubisoft, and we know how thorough those guys like to be when explaining in-game mechanics, you will be informed by the game about this mechanic once the time is due.
If, by any chance, you've missed those explanations, we've prepared a guide that explains everything about healing mechanics: how to heal, how to gather healing items, and how to upgrade and manage your health bar, so without further ado, let's begin.
How to perform healing in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes
Healing is as easy as pressing a single button. Once your health is lower than what makes you comfortable, you should just press the left arrow on the D-Pad (PlayStation controller), and depending on your skill, this action will restore a considerable amount of health.
Keep in mind that your health bar is divided into several smaller health chunks, and as long as there's at least a small amount of health in a chunk, once you stop receiving the damage, it will regenerate; however, if the entire chunk is depleted, you'll only be able to restore it by consuming a Dapophet (healing item).
How to gather healing items
Healing items can be gathered in three different ways: by collecting healing gel from health packs inside the RDA facilities, by harvesting Dapophet fruit from the Dapophet trees, and by collecting Dapophets left by other Na'vi all around the game's world.
In gathering healing items, your best friend is Na'vi Senses (hold the R1 button), and while observing the environment, look for everything that is green. Inside facilities, you'll spot green med packs mounted on the walls, and in the wilderness, green Dapophet trees, which are quite big and very hard to miss.
How to upgrade the health bar
When the game begins, you'll import a fully upgraded bar from your previous character, provided you finished the base game and upgraded it fully, of course. However, the game will soon take away that big health bar, and you'll be reduced to a four-chunk-long health bar, pretty much the same health bar from the beginning of the game, and it will be up to you to upgrade it in the DLC.
The game will give you the first upgrade through the unmissable story quest. You'll come across a strange plant whose fruit you'll eat, and once you do, you'll gain an additional, fifth health bar chunk. This plant is called Zeykoma, and you'll be able to find them all over the Kinglor Forest map.
