How to upgrade gear and get exquisite materials
To initiate the crafting of exquisite equipment, you must first acquire designs that outline the necessary materials for crafting a specific piece. Designs can be obtained as rewards for completed missions or from artisans in camps and settlements, and all designs are provided free of charge.
Materials, much like gear, are essentially divided into three tiers: fine, superior, and exquisite. To begin acquiring Exquisite materials, you'll need to clear several camps around Pandora. Clearing camps restores nature's dominance, leading to improved air quality and an increasing abundance of exquisite materials. Be aware that exquisite materials will remain absent until global pollution reaches the third threshold, "Revitalized Habitats." You can verify this by navigating to the Journal tab, selecting World Knowledge, and consulting the Global Pollution Knowledge tab.
Once you've acquired the desired recipe, go to the Journal and then navigate to Designs. Locate the specific design you want, click on it, and an option to pin the required materials will appear. Once pinned, the materials will be visible from various menus and on the main screen in the upper right corner.
Hover over the pinned materials, and you'll receive information about where in the world you can locate them. However, the challenge lies in the fact that these materials are typically sourced from plants and animals. To identify the specific ones to search for, go to the Hunter's Guide tab and choose the Materials tab on the left. Locate the material you need, and a list of all scanned plants and animals containing that material will be provided.
Now that you've identified the plant or animal to search for, hover over the corresponding tab and select "open entry." This action will display locations and optimal weather conditions for collecting that material. Examine the final paragraph, which provides clear explanations of the locations of rare materials and the methods to obtain them. The instructions are straightforward, making it easy for you to navigate and locate the materials.
A valuable aid in locating exquisite materials is the Eye for Quality skill, situated in the Memories of the Hunter subcategory. This skill enables you to differentiate exquisite materials when scanning in Na'vi Senses.
Upon acquiring the necessary materials, use any crafting table to craft and equip a piece of gear. While it might initially seem a bit overwhelming, simply follow the steps outlined in this guide. Soon enough, your Na'vi hero will boast a complete set of exquisite equipment, ready to face all the challenges that Pandora throws at their feet.
