While the arsenal in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may not be as extensive as expected, Ubisoft's developers have endeavoured to ensure each weapon possesses distinct characteristics and seamlessly integrates into the overall game setting.
With a selection limited to only seven distinct weapons, of which you can equip four at any given time, one cannot argue that the choices are extensive. Nevertheless, each weapon type exhibits varying versions, primarily distinguished by either the quality tier or the usage of special types of ammunition.
Given that not all weapons are available from the start and certain ones may require more than half of the game to unlock, this guide provides an overview of all the types of weapons you'll eventually utilise in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
List of all weapon types
Longbow
A classic Na'vi weapon, possessing considerable power with a slightly diminished range and moderate strength. Its compensatory feature lies in its swift reloading, making it particularly effective against human enemies.
Heavy Bow
This marks the second weapon you acquire in the game—highly potent with an extensive range. However, it comes with an exceptionally slow draw. It proves ideal for long-range combat, particularly effective when targeting weak points where even formidable enemies succumb after two or three shots.
Assault Rifle
A traditional automatic rifle crafted for Na'vi warriors, this weapon boasts a commendable fire rate, albeit with relatively low power. In contrast to a standard bow, which may have a power of, say, 80, this rifle registers at only 5. However, its elevated fire rate compensates for its modest power, rendering it highly effective against multiple enemies. It proves particularly useful when wielded while the character is riding the ikran.
Spear-thrower
The Spear-thrower, a potent weapon acquired in the later stages of the game, proves highly effective against exo-suited enemies. It possesses the capability to swiftly incapacitate even the strongest enemies with just one or two well-aimed spears. However, its slow firing rate requires strategic consideration, compelling players to carefully plan when and how to deploy this formidable weapon.
Staff Sling
The Staff Sling is advised against direct combat use but excels in creating traps and ambush scenarios. Equipped with three variations of tripwire mines—explosive, incendiary, and toxic—it proves exceptionally lethal. Additionally, it can serve as a defensive tool, allowing users to establish a protective perimeter by strategically placing mines during combat. This defensive tactic safeguards against enemies attempting to flank and provides a strategic advantage.
Shortbow
The Shortbow, while not delivering substantial damage, boasts an exceptionally rapid fire rate due to its swift arrow release. Ideal for swift engagements with human adversaries, it also excels as a proficient tool for hunting game.
Shotgun
The Shotgun, a traditional firearm employing shells, exhibits significant versatility. Depending on the shotgun type, it proves highly effective against humans, animals, and exo-suits alike. Variants equipped with shock shells excel at combating exo-suits, incapacitating them efficiently, and facilitating their subsequent elimination.
