Entering the Overlap in the Cauldron Lake is one of the first key moments in Alan Wake 2. The game can make the whole process a bit confusing so here's a guide to help you out.

Remedy's long-awaited horror title Alan Wake 2 is finally here and you can bet that it's packed with plenty of secrets, mystery and dark stories at every corner. Very early in the game, Alan Wake 2 will take you to Cauldron Lake, a place where you must confront the dark forces for the first time in the game.

In one of the key moments, you'll have to enter a portal called Overlap which is found in the lower parts of the map. At one point, you'll think you have it all figured out and head towards the Overlap but there are a couple of things you need to do before you can actually do that.

This guide will, hopefully help you if you're stuck getting into the Overlap.

How to enter the Overlap in Alan Wake 2?

Entering the Overlap is fairly simple. The game will give you several hints but to actually activate the mission you'll have to switch to the Mind Place and lay out the evidence on the board. Saga will then realise that in order to enter the Overlap, she needs Nightingale's heart which is in the General Store.

Take the heart to the Witch's Ladle sign and from there is pretty straightforward. You'll use the heart to activate the Overlap entrance and enter this dark world, where you'll fight a formidable foe.

And that's pretty much it. That's how you'll start this task of getting into the Overlap. Keep in mind that whenever you feel stuck in Alan Wake 2, visit the Mind Place, which is usually where you can unlock new dialogue or mission by simply looking at the evidence on the board.
