Alan Wake 2, the latest horror adventure from Remedy Entertainment, puts a strong emphasis on puzzle-solving mechanics as the most important part of its gameplay.
Almost every collectible you will find in the game will be locked behind some sort of puzzle. While some of them, especially the early ones, will be somewhat simpler, later in the game, some puzzles will definitely put your puzzle-solving skills to the real test.
During the Watery level of the game, you will come across the stash containing the crossbow weapon and, of course, the puzzle you must solve in order to get it. If solving this puzzle gives you trouble, we've prepared a guide to help you with this task.
How to get the crossbow
This stash is located just after you speak with Illmo and Yakko in Watery and when you take the alternate path to the amusement park. After you kill the first couple of enemies, take the path to the left and climb some rocks; this path will lead you to the shed with the save place inside it. In front of this shed lies the stash with the crossbow.
To solve this puzzle, you will have to observe the targets marked with numbers located near the stash. Spot the crossbow bolts pinned to the numbers. Number five has one bolt, number two has two bolts, and number seven has three bolts. This clearly indicates that the first number that should be put in padlock is five, the second one is two, and the third one is seven.
So, in order to unlock the stash and obtain the crossbow, you must enter 5-2-7 numbers inside the padlock. The crossbow is a really powerful weapon with a strong kick but a slightly slow reload time, so keep in mind that while engaging enemies, you can easily be overrun.
