Bungie have sure come armed to the teeth to Gamescom 2019 and they've got two Destiny 2 trailers, one for the upcoming expansion called Shadowkeep, and another for Shadowkeep's first batch of seasonal content called Season of the Undying.
Something wicked has awakened, says the trailer and it's obvious from the start that Destiny 2: Shadowkeep brings much more than even the trailer itself suggests.
Thankfully, Bungie has another trailer to pique your interest, and it's focused on more palpable threats in the Destiny 2 universe coming with the first season of Shadowkeep.
"The Garden of Salvation is only the beginning. Season of the Undying, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep’s first seasonal content offering, starts on October 5, 2019", Bungie wrote, and as you can see from the trailer - the Vex are coming.
In case you're somehow not familiar with Destiny 2's impending threat, the Vex are a race of time-travelling robots, whose transfer gates allow them to traverse space and time at will, and they're definitely not coming to make peace.
The Vex cannot be reasoned with, or communicated with for that matter, and their sole purpose is to Zerg their way through the galaxy, spurred by the Axis Minds.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep's Season of the Undying trailer shows the birthing of the Vex, giving some insight into how these creatures came to be. Naturally, Bungie are still keeping it mysterious and ominous, insisting that the Black Garden was the birthplace of the Vex, but not the beginning - it was the reason.
Bungie already confirmed that Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will have at least two simultaneous storylines, the first one focusing on bringing Guardians back to the Moon, and bringing back some old faces like Eris Morn.
The developer has been busy showing off new finishers, with which they plan to further spice up the Destiny 2 experience, and Shadowkeep will see the return of some enemies of old in a distinct nightmare flavour.
Bungie will have their hands full in October as they're not only launching Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying, they're also launching the free-to-play version of Destiny 2, after deciding on the launch date of 01 October 2019.
Note that Season of the Undying will come five days later, but Destiny 2 players will have plenty to do until then.
