Starfield is Bethesda's priority and The Elder Scrolls fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the sixth instalment in the beloved franchise according to Todd Howard. Apparently, there could be a full decade wait between TES games.

You may remember that Bethesda had two big announcements on last year's E3 expo - The Elder Scrolls 6 and brand new IP named Starfield. They also announced online RPG Fallout 76.

Unfortunately, both of these big projects are still a long way off and won't release on the current-generation consoles as Bethesda aim to deliver proper next-gen titles. However, that didn't stop the fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise to speculate about the potential release date which won't come anytime soon according to studio Director Todd Howard.

In an interview with IGN, Howard asked the fans of epic fantasy RPG for patience as Starfield is the studio's number one priority at the moment. "I think everyone should be very patient, the gap in between is going to be long, It already is," Howard said when the interviewer pointed out it's been almost ten years since the release of the last game in the franchise - Skyrim.

The biggest reason why Bethesda are taking so long with The Elder Scrolls 6 and don't see an issue in the ten-year gap is their MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online.

Howard said the game is doing great, it's vibrant both for the devs and the audience. He also mentioned that once people eventually see the game and what Bethesda have in mind, they'll understand the gap more in terms of technology and what they want it to do.

It sounds like The Elder Scrolls 6 could be a true achievement in terms of innovation and its technical side but of course, we're at the doorstep of the next-gen and many devs are looking to use the power of the new consoles to deliver yet unseen things in video games.

Bethesda will be at E3 2019 on 09 June 2019 and hopefully, we'll get some fresh details on both project, but don't get your hopes up and manage those expectations well.

Thanks, IGN.
